01

Our Approach

Our Name

Alpha in Opportunity. Ace in Execution.

Alpha represents the focus to identify structural opportunities and originate businesses around durable commercial needs. Ace represents the discipline to turn opportunity into enduring enterprise — through evidence, capital and disciplined execution.

Together, they reflect our approach: identify what is worth building, prove the case before committing, and create businesses capable of thriving beyond their founders.

What a Founder-Sponsor Does

We build or acquire a small number of businesses — currently three — over a long time horizon, moving through five stages:

01
Originate
Identify a specific, durable commercial problem worth solving.
→
02
Validate
Test the key assumption against real evidence before committing capital or time.
→
03
Build Or Acquire
Commit capital and begin building or acquiring the business.
→
04
Govern
Install operating leadership and accountability so the business outgrows its founder.
→
05
Scale
Expand only once the evidence continues to hold up.

We describe each venture publicly at the stage it is actually at.

Our Edge

What We Look For

Every venture is tested against the same core standards:

Financeable At Scale: a credible path to funding it, not just building it.
Scalable Beyond The Founder: able to run without depending on us personally.
Defensible: a named, specific advantage, not just good execution.
Backed By Structural Demand: anchored in durable forces, not a passing trend.

As ventures mature, we also look for genuine capital adjacency and the potential to become infrastructure our partners depend on, rather than just a good business.

Why We Are Different

Two-Market Fluency: real, first-hand experience on both sides, UK and Southern Africa, built over 35 years of combined partner experience.
Prove It, Then Port It: we build our playbook where it is financeable today, and carry it into harder terrain once it is proven.
We Try To Disprove Ourselves First: before capital moves, we deliberately look for the reason a thesis fails, not just the case for yes.
Evidence Does Not Stop At Commitment: the same discipline continues once we are operating: decisions get tracked and tested against real data for as long as we are running the business, not just at the point we decide to invest.
03

Our Focus

Each of the following ventures sits at a different point in the five-stage process described in Our Approach. It shows exactly where each venture stands today.

Active build, Zambia entry point live

Honey & Specialty Coffee: Southern Africa Provenance

Zambia · Malawi

We are building a provenance-led honey business, with specialty coffee as a second product line. Zambia is our compliant, near-term entry point for EU/UK-eligible supply; Malawi is a separate, multi-year build once market-access requirements there are met. These are two distinct stages of one thesis, not the same activity at two speeds. Our approach centres on traceability and direct origin relationships, rather than competing purely on price.

Acquisition search, pre-LOI

Acquisition of a UK Regulated Compliance Services Business

United Kingdom

UK law requires businesses to have safety-critical systems and equipment tested, inspected or certified on a recurring cycle. The work is non-discretionary, delivered on recurring contracts, and often provided by owner-operated specialists approaching succession. Sectors of interest include water hygiene and Legionella control, weighing and weighbridge calibration, and statutory equipment inspection. We intend to acquire one established, profitable business with turnover of £1m to £3.5m and mostly recurring revenue. We would then build a regional platform through targeted add-on acquisitions. Our search is active, and we are not yet party to any signed agreement.

Validation, pre-construction

Kuya: Malawi Hospitality

Malawi

Kuya is a planned hospitality development in Malawi, envisaged as a small collection of distinctive properties across complementary experiences, lakeside, safari and highland, rather than a single site. We hold land as our first candidate location and are currently validating demand before committing construction capital. The model is to create genuine, provable value on validated sites rather than build first and hope. No building has begun.

04

Leadership

A small, hands-on team leading origination, capital structuring and governance, operating each venture directly in its early stages, then bringing in specialist leadership and advisors as it matures.
